BlackHistoryStrong was born in Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn District—a neighborhood that has carried Black culture, Black resilience, and Black leadership for generations.
Sweet Auburn is where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up, where civil rights leaders prayed and organized, and where Black-owned businesses shaped a community that refused to be erased.
Our founder was raised right here.
From barbershop conversations to Sunday church programs, from Juneteenth block parties to elders telling stories about the Movement—this neighborhood taught him one truth:
Black history isn’t something in textbooks.
It lives in us.
It lives in our families.
It lives in our streets.
BlackHistoryStrong wasn’t created to be another apparel shop.
It was created to be a home for our stories.
To honor Black history.
To celebrate Black excellence.
To make our culture visible every day—through what we proudly wear.
We believe clothing is a statement:
A way to say where we come from, what we’ve survived, and who we still are.
Because if we don’t tell our stories, someone else will rewrite them.
Black history is not a month;
it is a lineage—from Harriet Tubman to Malcolm X, from Black Wall Street to today’s creators, educators, activists, and entrepreneurs.
Every design we release is inspired by real people, real events, real legacy.
Our designs are never random.
Each piece is created through a process that includes:
Research from Black historians
First-hand interviews with community elders
Artwork by Black illustrators and designers from Atlanta, New Orleans, and Baltimore
Field visits to museums and historic districts
We gather stories, study archives, and collaborate with artists rooted in the culture.
Everything we make is authentic—not commercialized, not watered down.
